Poem I wrote for my wife a long time ago
And I was up so high until I came crashing down
Swirled through the lust of the underground
Caught in the undertow I became a man I do not know
Climbed up my mountain to where I stayed
Fell back down to earth when you prayed
Demands of the bottle trapped in my head
Demands quickly become man’s best friend
The mind finds devices it does not mind
To give its self its own piece of mind
Forgiveness is a word that does not say
Things said in anger on unfaithful days
Falling from grace where glory stays
Falling from your arms slipping away
Brought back down from my mountain again to where I stayed
Back to the simple man's peaceful ways
Upon the dirt my house I build
In the fields my hands I worked
In the night my mind slips away
Through the fires light when my eyes are glazed
In the morning when I awake
It is in your eyes that I now stay
