The young boy 6 or 7 played in the park behind their new house by the pond. Not too far off there was a bench that an older man sat at. As the boy grew into a teenager he saw the old man and could see he had a little flask with him he would take a sip of while sitting there.
Some of his friends even robbed the old man as he was close to becoming a man.
His father and mother moved into a retirement home when he had his first son and he and his wife and newborn son moved into the house he had grown up in.
As his child grew and could walk on her own while they played in the park one day. The police came and arrested the old man who now walked with a cane for drinking in public sitting on the bench and he never saw the old man again.
The children he had grew and finished school to. As one by one, they moved far far away. The man retired at 65 and sat in his house all day. Then he found a bottle of scotch one of his sons had dropped off on a Christmas day.
He filled a water bottle and walked to where his feet would take him and sat on the bench in the park that day. As he took a sip his eyes turned red as he could hear the children laugh and play. One by one on his cell phone, he called his children that day. They were all so busy raising their children they did not have much time to talk anyway.
So there he sat day after day thinking back to when his little ones used to play.
