My kids and my writing

 Before I had kids, I could sit there some days and write out 5 pages of a book all in one sitting. Now, I am lucky if I can sit there and write out a whole paragraph without being interrupted and lose my train of thought. just writing this I have been interrupted 3 times by my 4 year old and I still need to wake up my 6-year-old. 

Before, I could also spend days just thinking of how the chapter should go and then sit there and write it all out. Now, and I am sure anyone working from home with children as I am, will know that as soon as you hear them yell you forget everything you were thinking and it brakes your concentration as though it's built into our DNA to forget what you are doing when your kids need you to go check on them, I guess from when humans were hunted by other animals. 

In that, I can see why for people to work schools were needed and to teach people to live with each other in a city it was just as important to have them all together in a school to learn the same and grow together. It was this idea of group learning that brought us into this technological age, not the few people that created the technology. calculators were only widely used when they were used in schools, computers only replaced them when they were used in schools for young kids, tablets are becoming the norm as kids are using them in schools now. You could have the best piece of hardware or software in the world, however, if you have not taught a child how to use it, it will never be used. This is how technology is replaced for something newer every 2 years, however, the public is 20 years behind on what could actually be out there. Many people want the newest smartphone, but its that next set of people just out of high school and going into or just getting out of post ED that are actually using the newest functions on it. These are my ideas only and this is not about how much someone knows now, the fact is many people know so much more then I do and are up to date on what is new, this is a message about how much more someone hopefully will know that are in their 20's 20 years from now. 

Kids are the future and a gift but not the present. If you ask me everyone should have one hour a week of free tutoring for their kids to get that real one on one learning needed to follow through in school that week and the future would be brighter for all. 

The best thing I ever heard about how to raise your own children is one day at a time, you just have to get through it, one day at a time!
