The new year has begun

The new year has begun
What will change what will stay the same
Who will come and who will go 
Who will say they do not know

Time will tell and in a year we will be here again
Each one so long when it begins and so short when it ends
Bills are the only thing we really know
Go to work to pay them and go back home

Television is there to star at lives other than ours
Books on the shelves to remember minds we once explored
To understand something new it takes two years
Two years is too long as each one disappears

All inclusive vacations and cruise ships for those with a good year
Road trips with the family for parents who care
A hit a bump a simple trip for the mind to escape
When one can't afford the going rates.
